Albert Griffiths and the Gladiators - Country Living: 7.5 (high B+)

I like this cover, for some reason, although I have this album combined with In Store for You on a single CD. In Store for You I would grade 7 (B+), maybe more of an honorable mention if I'm being truthful. It is marred by some cheesy synths, which is probably due to it being released two years later than Country Living in 1987, when synths were legally required to be on all albums. I am in the market for one of these. I don't want the two-disc version, or the early Cog Sinister vinyl drops. I am looking for the 2005 Castle reissue with the six live bonus tracks, which are pretty good. These are currently selling for prices I refuse to pay, so I'll wait until I can find a good copy at a reasonable price. Update: Found shortly after posting this. Haven't shelved this yet, so the grade could possibly change.

Warren Zevon - My Ride's Here: 8 (A-)

Warren Zevon - Original Album Series

As pictured, his first 5 releases: Warren Zevon, Excitable Boy, Bad Luck Streak in Dancing School, Stand in the Fire, and The Envoy. I also own Sentimental Hygiene, The Wind, and the Genius comp. Might get around to rating those one day. And also the first two here, which I have owned for years.

Terrible title (and yes, I get the references). I'm not sure how Christgau came up with a B minus for this and B plus for Transverse City. I have this as part of the Original Album Classics boxlet with the first five releases.

Warren Zevon - Transverse City: 8 (A-)

Way upped from "liked" and found in remastered form for a good price, shipped, in 2025. I'm now all-in on this artist, other than Mutineer, Mr. Bad Example, Learning to Flinch, and the "first" one. I guess that's quite a few, so maybe I'm not that all-in. The guest artists on this are pretty amazing: Jerry Garcia, Neil Young, David Gilmour, David Lindley, Chick Corea....

Warren Zevon - Stand in the Fire: 8 (A-)

I had this in the late 1970s, early 1980s, and played it many times, probably because of A Clockwork Orange. I think I kind of liked it but don't remember much about it or how it impacted me. Listened again just now. #experimental

Half Japanese - Calling All Girls: 7.5 (high B+)

Key early 7-inch. I would get a copy, but it sells for ridiculous prices. All songs are on Greatest Hits, other than the below 4 songs from 1/2 Gentlemen/Not Beasts, so 5 out of 9 tracks are on GH. That's about half a 12-minute EP, or about 6 minutes of music if you do the math, for those high prices.
