I actually de-shelved this, but reshelved it because Christgau never misses a chance to plug it, he gave it a 10 (A+), and it's a pretty nice package. Tom Hull also gave it a 10 (A+). Who am I to argue with both of those guys? I also de-shelved Rhino's prior version, The Best of the Girl Groups, Vol. 1 [1990]. That one is staying de-shelved, in favor of this, and because it's an early CD-era compilation, even though it was in one of Christgau's now-defunct Rock Libraries. Come to think of it, I really wish he had kept those up-to-date.
