Jerry Garcia - Garcia: 8.5 (high A-)

See review for Weir's Ace. Same reasoning applies, although I like this one better and it might even be an 8 (A-). Update: Upped to 8.5 (high A-) upon further listens. I realized that the 1988 reissue on Grateful Dead Records actually was "digitally mastered" - which means I think in more modern terms it was "digitally remastered" although that terminology was not yet in common use at the time I guess. In any event, this is a beautiful reissue, with no cluttering bonus tracks, that sounds great, and I'm so happy to have it. I think this is an essential "Grateful Dead" release. Jerry was such an amazing artist, as was Robert Hunter (to a lesser extent though, obviously). It's possible I'm still underrating this.
