I found it hard to believe that this was as good as Christgau, who gave it what I would call a 9.5 (high A), thinks. He's personal friends with both of them, which I have to believe affects his judgement. Given that it is non-streamable (except for two not very impressive tracks), I would have to pay $12 to buy digital tracks to even hear it. I don't pay for digital tracks ever (or hardly ever), but especially not sound unheard.
Update: I ultimately broke down and bought the digital tracks. Hull gives this a B+(**), although this may be based on a single listen, which is certainly not enough for an album like this.
