A mishmash of older country and country-ish songs, alternative and currently obscure mid-Western rappers. It doesn't totally gel but hangs together well enough. Download-only. Update (November 2025): I finally got tired of not easily being able to hear this every time I run across Christgau praising it and so did the extremely rare thing of buying the tracks and burning them to a disc. Given that this is his third favorite album of the last decade, I have to believe that sooner or later it will kick in for me, especially if I can easily play it whenever I get the urge. We shall see. Further update (November 2025): I did up it a notch after getting the physical and playing it many more times. Still not my third favorite of the decade though, that's for sure.
